It is a fairly awesome movie.

yeah, pretty much by the robots, good graphics, but I was expecting something more like the original. And the lines were crappy.

...I'm sorry, but how can a fan of the original be put off that the movie's lines were crappy? I am perfectly willing to admit to them being very cheesy, but the cartoon dialogue was so much worse. D:

Wel you see, there is a difference between growing up on shows where almost ALL THE LINES ARE CHEESY and then seeing it try to be reproduced in a way to try and make it cool. It just doesn't work. I'm trying to think of a clearer way to say it, but I can't. It's like in a fanfic where the author throws in catchphrases where they either don't fit or have become used to often.

I see what you are saying! It makes total sense and if it was my childhood I might well feel the same way, but. Speaking as someone who only vaguely remembered Beast Wars before seeing the 2007 movie and was thus unprejudiced either way...the movie totally succeeded at trying to make it cool. It WAS cool! It was awesome! It made me go back and download the entirety of Beast Wars, and also watch a bunch of episodes of G1 before the cheesy choked me, and even after that get a lot of plot data about G1 from Wikipedia and Zack-mun who has TF textbooks for some reason.

I really do understand and respect your point, but...maybe it's worth another chance? D:

I understand your POV. Don't worry, I have been pondering over whether or not to give it another chance, but now my pride is in the way. I bashed it quite enough that my older brother was teasing me about how we were all going to watch it together (This was the time where I was kicked out of the room for ranting by my YOUNGER brother) And so I'm weighing the options of asking my older brother to borrow it and put up with the jeering of 'I knew you liked it!' and other such comments, or to just shut up and leave it be.

However, I may have a friend that I could borrow it from and thus spare my ego

Lol, 'sup.

I think all I gotta say about your characterization of Blackout is it'd just be reaaaallly awesome and shit if you kind of brought him back to the way you were playing him before, with him being torn between his loyalty to Eros and to Megatron? It'd probably be, like, easier if we had a Megs and all, but you know.

Honestly, I just wanna see him be a robot again/more often. I didn't mean my secret to be MEAN or anything, but I miss the rotors. :| I think his human form has pulled him away from his 'real' self. I really liked how you played it off in the beginning, that was super impressive but I think you've gotten too comfortable in the last couple of months? idk.

Thaaaaaat's it. Take it or leave it.

Honestly? This is a very valid concern, and something I've been thinking--and talking--about since a couple of people mentioned it to me on HMD.

The problem with me playing him as a robot right now is that there's really nothing for him to do. He's out of the ocean, he's got Scorponok back, and other than the ones I play, he doesn't really have any immediate canonmates. If he was a mech a lot, he'd just be...sitting around. It really wouldn't be IC of him to telegraph his movements or report on every little thing he's doing, or to lurk around the comm and respond to, like, every post, which is really all I can think of him to do otherwise. So he'd have nothing to do and nothing to talk about, and since he's undoubtedly my strongest muse, that would just be intolerable for me.

Re: the conflict between his loyalties...I kind of miss that. I worry that I moved through that too quickly. But from a player standpoint, when practically every conversation he had with Eros--whether in a thread or a log--devolved into angst or an argument over that one thing? It got kind of...boring. Repetitive? Which is, I'm aware, just an excuse, but it's sort of the same reason he started spending so much time with Eros in the first place. It was boring for me to play him sitting around in the desert sulking, so he started hanging around with Eros, despite it being un-Decepticon and everything. But the main conflict there started getting boring, so I've moved on to him being relatively happy with him.

This is going to sound like another excuse, but I feel like he wouldn't have become this...complacent? If he had some canonmates around. He hid his relationship with Eros extensively in the beginning when it was just Bumblebee, Mikaela, and Sam who could know about it--I imagine if Megatron or one of the other top 'Cons showed up on DDD one day, he'd go into, like, lockdown. And the reasons why will have changed a lot, because it would be more to protect Eros now, than to protect himself from censure, but he'd definitely back away.

So basically...he is getting comfortable. There's no one around to keep him on his toes and all his comrades have abandoned him, and he's fixating all that devotion that would have been given to Megatron on Eros. Their relationship goes a lot deeper than that by now, obviously, but that's still a big part of it--that Blackout has a core drive to be obsessed with, protective of, and commanded by someone, and now that he's been "abandoned", that someone is Eros.

Fffff, justifications. TL;DR: I know it's a problem, it's one I've been thinking about, but...I don't really know what to do otherwise, I guess? I'm open to suggestions, or course, if you have any~

And thank you, sincerely, for talking to me. I may play Blackout for myself, but it's still no fun to find out that someone who thought so highly of my characterization once now...doesn't.

Oh man, so glad you took this well. I was expecting major bitchery (sorry, just the way you replied in RPS), but wow! OK, so.

Yeah, there's nothing really for him to do as a robot, so that's understandable, especially without canon mates. I gotta agree, I think you did move through it a little too quickly, and yeah. I mean, yeah, it got boring but at least it was, uhhhh... consistent, I guess? Things are consistent now, too, but they're... still kind of boring and uninteresting to read. I did like the Animal Virus that you did but I'm ... lost on the significance of the collar? Did I miss something somewhere?? I remember Guy going to Eros when he first joined, but... explain?

That's my problem, he's gotten too comfortable and I think you have too. I really don't have any suggestions which makes this whole thing like kind of pointless, but... I kind of assumed that you either were ignoring this problem with him or just didn't give a shit about it and hadn't given it any thought. It's good to know that it worried you, too. :)

Ahah. Yeah, I was a little...short, in RP!S, I'll admit, but there are so many people who post secrets there for the express purpose of stirring up trouble that I have a policy of not listening to them. |D;;

Ooohhhh maaaaan, the Gisborne stuff. Okay, Norry and I have played out a lot of interactions between Blackout and Gisborne, but it's been...largely in IM, because it's gotten pretty nasty a couple of times. A lot of angry!sex, a lot of abuse and humiliation, on both sides, just a lot of hate festering between them. The collar comes from that--Blackout claimed Gisborne as a pet in one of the logs we've done and locked him into a collar, and that was the collar he destroyed in the AV RL.

Of course, the main thing here is that was all in IM, which means only, uh, Norry and I know about it, even though we count it part of game canon. Gisborne and Blackout don't really get along in the game itself, and it kind of belies how much they absolutely loathe each other.

Yeah, it's definitely an issue on my mind--I'm not ignoring it, I swear. And I've been soliciting a person or two for canonmates, preferably 'Con canonmates, but nothing's really come of that yet, and like I said, I don't really know what to do otherwise.

Which I have, quite obviously, realized! XD;; I do apologize for being so short, but I've seen people get, like, totally whacked-out and start doubting all aspects of their play because of secrets, and refuse to let that happen to me.

Pretty much! We really should, like, put some of those logs up somewhere, because it's some pretty interesting stuff. The dynamic between the two fo them is utterly fun to play.

[fingers crossed!]
